Soil Nitrous Oxide Emission and Methane Exchange From Diversified Cropping Systems in Pannonian Region

چکیده

Diversified farming systems are promoted to improve ecosystem services in agriculture while maintaining productivity. Intercropping could soil quality, the stability of yields and climate resilience. Whether direct emissions greenhouse gases from reduced as well, depends on specific measures diversification. Here, we determined gas soils two diversification experiments Pannonian Hungary. Firstly, an asparagus field, oat field pea was introduced intercrop between berms. Secondly, grass aromatic herbs were intercropped a vineyard grape rows. The results show that especially for nitrous oxide, average treatment can increase with additional legumes (+252% peas) but decrease (−66%). No significant changes found methane exchange. This shows that, other be increased by intercropping, intercropping highly context dependent.

Nitrous Oxide Emissions from Irrigated Cropping Systems

We evaluated the eff ects of irrigated crop management practices on nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from soil. Emissions were monitored from several irrigated cropping systems receiving N fertilizer rates ranging from 0 to 246 kg N ha−1 during the 2005 and 2006 growing seasons. Cropping systems included conventional-till (CT) continuous corn (Zea mays L.), no-till (NT) continuous corn, NT corn–dr...

Methane and nitrous oxide exchange over a managed hay meadow

The methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O) exchange of a temperate mountain grassland near Neustift, Austria, was measured during 2010-2012 over a time period of 22 months using the eddy covariance method. Exchange rates of both compounds at the site were low, with 97% of all half-hourly CH4 and N2O fluxes ranging between ±200 and ±50 ng m-2 s-1, respectively. The meadow acted as a sink for both...

Ammonia, methane, and nitrous oxide emission from pig slurry applied to a pasture in New Zealand.

Much animal manure is being applied to small land areas close to animal confinements, resulting in environmental degradation. This paper reports a study on the emissions of ammonia (NH3), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O) from a pasture during a 90-d period after pig slurry application (60 m3 ha-1) to the soil surface. The pig slurry contained 6.1 kg total N m-3, 4.2 kg of total ammoniacal...

Soil formate regulates the fungal nitrous oxide emission pathway.

Fungal activity is a major driver in the global nitrogen cycle, and mounting evidence suggests that fungal denitrification activity contributes significantly to soil emissions of the greenhouse gas nitrous oxide (N(2)O). The metabolic pathway and oxygen requirement for fungal denitrification are different from those for bacterial denitrification. We hypothesized that the soil N(2)O emission fro...

Soil and residue management effects on cropping conditions and nitrous oxide ̄uxes under controlled traf®c in Scotland 2. Nitrous oxide, soil N status and weather

Nitrogen from fertilisers and crop residues can be lost as nitrous oxide (N2O), a greenhouse gas that causes an increase in global warming and also depletes stratospheric ozone. Nitrous oxide emissions, soil chemical status, temperature and N2O concentration in the soil atmosphere were measured in a ®eld experiment on soil compaction in loam and sandy loam (cambisols) soils in south-east Scotla...
